Snap to Other Shapes should more accurately be Snap to Other Strokes.The shapes tool has options you can turn on: You can change the fill colour for some shapes. It can Fill Colour your shapes with the same colour as the shape. The shapes tool in GoodNotes supports regular and irregular shapes, as well as arrows. On the far right side of the toolbar, you can choose the size for your eraser from the three available options. These are fixed and can’t be changed. It saves you the time you’d otherwise waste switching tools in the app. In GoodNotes, you can choose to:Īuto-Deselect automatically switches back to the tool you were using before the eraser. You can Clear Page to erase everything you have added to your page (annotations, text boxes). Another tap (when it’s already selected) opens it for customisation. One tap on the eraser selects it for use in the app.

You can straighten your highlights by turning on the Draw in a Straight Line option to make them look neater. The highlighter goes behind your ink making your notes pop out. Some people use this zoom tool feature to improve how their handwriting looks in the app. When set to auto-advance in the app’s settings, the zoom window automatically moves as you take your notes. The zoom window starts on the margin you set when you’re using auto-advance. The zoom window has navigation arrows on the right side for moving the window on the page and icons on the left for creating a margin for your page. The zoom tool lets you add tiny handwritten notes to fit more information on a page. It is just what you’d expect from a handwriting note-taking experience. There is no lag and palm rejection is perfect. When well-calibrated, the pens in GoodNotes will give you an excellent handwriting experience. You’ll have to remember the one you replaced, which is not pleasant. From time to time, you’ll be forced to replace one of these thicknesses to use a different one. From our experience, three pen thicknesses are not enough. Your pen sizes are measured in millimetres: from 0.1mm to 2.0mm. GoodNotes supports the Hex code, colour wheel or grid palette for choosing your colours. Your toolbar can only have three pen colours & thicknesses, which you can easily replace. Playing around with these features helps you create pen tools you can use in the app. You can customise each to change its colour, thickness and sometimes, pressure sensitivity and tip sharpness. If you’re unhappy with these templates, you can import and save your own to the app’s template library. Each paper template can be one of three colours you get in the app: white, yellow and dark. GoodNotes supports many paper sizes for note-taking, which can either be portrait or landscape. The app creates a notebook from your preferred default templates. Creating a QuickNote is the fastest way to get started in GoodNotes. You can create a new Notebook or a QuickNote to start taking notes in the app.
